Case Study # 2: China Mall Installation

We were asked to supply and install one of our synthetic ice skating rinks into a new shopping mall opening in Nanning, China. Due to the shape of the available space, a bespoke design was manufactured and then shipped out to China ready for our install team to fly out and build the rink. Attention to detail was crucial as the unusual shape was carefully crafted to fit within the available space. For this installation a bespoke, glass barrier system was also installed. We were very pleased with the final results and this huge 650m2 synthetic skating rink has to be amongst one of our favourite installations. Remember we can supply our rink packages anywhere in the World!

Case Study # 5: Ice Magic Creates a Winter Wonderland on the Roof Top of John Lewis Store in London’s Oxford Street

The London Gin brewer, Sipsmith, approached us with a vision. For a winter promotion of their famous gin they wanted to have a bespoke ice skating rink installed on the rooftop of Oxford Street’s John Lewis. And of course, we said we would be delighted to make it happen.

The idea was in celebration of the 17th Century Frost Fairs when Londoners would adventure onto the frozen River Thames whilst sipping on hot gin. Within just one day of installing, the 9. X 7m synthetic ice skating rink was ready. On top of the popular John Lewis store there was suddenly a secret winter wonderland.

The Sipsmith promotion ran for twelve weeks and our ice rink became a huge success, attracting over seven thousand skaters to the top of John Lewis. People got their skates on and voted it as one of London’s best skating rink destinations. Case Study # 6: Iceland Supermarket’s Stratford store transformed by Ice Magic for a Festive Commercial

Dancing on Ice is something that we knew all about but Shopping on Ice, on the other hand, was something new. We were approached by a London Event Agency with an idea of creating the world’s first Supermarket Ice Rink. The festive idea was for a National sales campaign for Iceland. It involved transforming the aisles in Iceland’s brand new Stratford store into an ice rink. Of course, we were thrilled to bring this idea to life and within just a day before the store’s grand opening we fitted our synthetic ice skating panels into the aisles. It was ready to give people a shopping experience they’d never forget.

Case Study # 7: Permanent Synthetic Ice Rink for a Theme Park in the Seychelles

When a theme park in the town of Victoria, Seychelles, required a permanent synthetic ice rink installed, we were delighted they chose us to do the job.

We manufactured the skating rink in the UK and it was then shipped via container to the island. Our team of in-house engineers then flew out to install the rink which was complete and ready for skaters within two days.

Located inside the park alongside rides, simulators and arcade games, our permanent synthetic ice rink has been a very welcome addition, loved by both locals and tourists. As it was installed in an air-conditioned building, it provides the ultimate comfort for skaters while also giving them protection from the sunshine whilst skating.

Case Study # 8: Mobile Curling Rink / BT Sport Mobile Curling

Mobile Curling Rink for BT Sport Mobile Curling. We were very proud to be chosen to supply our synthetic mobile curling rink by BT Sport for the popular “BT Sports Panel Show”. Our mobile curling rink was on hire to demonstrate the fantastic sport of curling on the morning programme. Presenters Tim Lovejoy and Matt Dawson attempted a go before letting the professionals, silver medallists Eve Muirhead and David Murdoch, show them how it’s done.

Case Study # 9: Harrod’s Christmas Launch Video

When Harrods required an ice rink for their 2013 Christmas marketing campaign, we were delighted to supply one of our synthetic solutions. We were asked to help create a short film where Santa would end up skating on the roof of the iconic Harrods store in London.

The film’s storyline meant building the rink on the Brompton Road store’s helipad. The rink also needed to be positioned in a way that would highlight the world famous Harrods dome in the background. As the filming was going to be taking place at night, the windows in the dome would be lit up, helping to bring focus to it. Following discussions with the team, we built a rink of 12m x 12m (144m²) for the professional skater to use. As this was a film production, the use of our ice rink barriers was not applicable. Once this was all set up, along with the cameras, filming was ready to begin and took place over 2 star-filled nights in the city. After all filming was complete, we dismantled the rink and lighting. The editors then took the footage and turned it into the wonderful video campaign that went out across the Harrods website and their social media channels.
